In 2008, a group of Spanish-speaking men of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Frederick, Maryland met for the purpose of organizing a new Spanish-speaking Council. A short time later, the required number of candidates was obtained and a petition for a charter was made to the Supreme Office with assistance from the Bishop McNamara Council No. 1622 Grand Knight SK William (Bill) W. Wierzbicky and Maryland District 31 Deputy Steve Miller and support from Reverend Rafael A. Murillo Ventura, an Associate Pastor at St. John the Evangelist Church.
On December 14, 2008, a First Degree Exemplification was conferred by a Spanish-speaking First Degree Team in the cafeteria of the Sister Margaret Bauer Evangelization Center, St. John the Evangelist Church, Frederick, MD. These new Knights were accepted as members by St. John's Council No. 1622 (then called Bishop McNamara Council) while awaiting the formation of their new council.

On January 31, 2009, a combined First and Second Degree Exemplification was conducted in English in the community center of St. Timothy's Church, Walkersville, MD. Advancing Second Degree Knights included Br. Luis Cardenas, Br. Alvaro Cardozo, Br. Santos Reyes, Br. Roberto Rosas, Br. Jose Salaverri, Br. Mario Sandoval and Br. Luis Zelayas.

On April 1, 2009, San Juan Bosco Council No. 14726 became a reality. A Third Degree Exemplification and a council chartering ceremony conducted in the cafeteria of the Sister Margaret Bauer Evangeliszation Center, St. John the Evangelist Church, Frederick, MD.

Council members chose their council name to honor San Juan Bosco, a 19th century Italian priest (b. 16 August 1815, d. 31 January 1888) who dedicated his life to the betterment and education of street children, juvenile delinquents, and other disadvantaged youth. He developed teaching methods based on love rather than punishment, a method that became known as the Salesian Preventive System. San Juan Bosco Council No 14726 typically met in the Room 10 Council Chamber located in the Sister Margaret Bauer Evangelization Center, which they shared with Bishop McNamara Council, later renamed to St. John's Council No. 1622.

Merge with St. John's Council in 2022.
After 13 years of dedicated service by San Juan Bosco Council to the parish, members of San Juan Bosco Council No. 14726 and St. John's Council No. 1622 expressed interest in merging into a single council. On February 24, 2022, the Supreme Council in New Haven, CT, approved the merger of these two councils into one, to be known as St. John's Council No. 1622. Past Grand Knights of the former San Juan Bosco Council are recognized as Past Grand Knights of the merged St. John's Council No. 1622.
